Throughout, there are peaceful areas where you can relax, enjoy being with friends in a complete change of scene: there are the lounges overlooking the gardens, a library with light oak panelling and a handsome fireplace, a French-style Charles  X billards room and even a legally-permissible smoking room.

The 5-star hotel is laid out over four levels, with five ‘paths’ on the road side, which bear the names of famous chefs – Paul Bocuse, Alexandre Dumaine, Jean and Pierre Troisgros, – of the sculptor of  Saulieu François Pompon, and of painter and friend, Bernard Buffet. The noble architecture, the fine materials and the decorative features interspersed with contemporary touches, give it true Burgundy charm, heightened by a judicious hint of modernity. The guestrooms and suites also comprise a combination of stone, Burgundy floor tiles and antique wood panelling. Some also boast fireplaces, terraces and balconies overlooking the gardens.

A superb contemporary panoramic lift in mirror-finished stainless steel has been installed within a huge oak staircase, a show piece of construction with its traditional pegging, which serves all the floors of the hotel as well as affording views of the gardens. Our Relais & Châteaux is accessible to the disabled and those of limited mobility (2 rooms with specially-adapted bathrooms).

Suite

This suite, located on a separate floor, has rooms which fan out from a fine entrance which gives you the impression that you are in a house. In addition to the delightful bedroom, the attic suite, with French-style ceilings, offers a separate lounge with a fine fire place and a balcony overlooking the garden.
